Diving
Perseverance & Growth
I began diving in 10th grade, starting on the junior varsity team.
The learning curve was steep — between cold early-spring practices and frequent colds, it was both physically and mentally demanding.
In 11th grade, I had a diving accident that sent me to the emergency room.
But I didn’t give up.
I kept going, training harder, and eventually earned a spot on the varsity team.
When I finally became a varsity diver, the moment felt surreal — not just because of the title, but because I knew what it had cost me to get there.
Diving taught me how to push through fear and hardship, and the experience helped me grow stronger, more focused, and more confident.
My connection with water didn’t end there — I also worked as a lifeguard during the summer, deepening my comfort in and respect for water.
