Hand in Hand

Volunteering from the Heart

Art 2 Class leader

I began volunteering with Hand in Hand, a weekend school for students with disabilities, in 10th grade.

Having a younger sibling with special needs, this work held a deeply personal meaning for me.Every Saturday, we led activities like taekwondo, dance, music, crafts, Korean drumming (sogo), and art games for the students.

I initially supported as a general volunteer, helping in various classes.

In 11th grade, I took on more responsibility and became the lead volunteer for the Art 2 class, where I taught once a month.

I planned and led each session, preparing materials and guiding the students through creative projects like clay modeling, painting, and mixed media.

Seeing our students smile as they created something with their hands filled me with joy.

It reminded me of the power of patience, care, and shared creativity — and it gave me the unique joy of giving.
