    MCASD & SDMA
Student Council & Internship

In 11th grade, I had the opportunity to serve on the Student Councils at both the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) and the San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA).

As someone with a deep passion for art, these experiences were incredibly meaningful and eye-opening.

At MCASD, I had the unique chance to be part of a student-curated exhibition.

From brainstorming concepts to planning the display, I gained a deeper understanding of how art can go beyond visual appreciation—it can evoke emotions, provoke thought, and connect people.

At SDMA, I participated in organizing workshops and community programs, learning how museums can serve as inclusive spaces that engage the public and promote creativity.

These experiences not only enriched my love for art but also taught me the value of collaboration, leadership, and using creativity as a tool for connection and communication.

CSSSA Camp

From a young age, I found joy and confidence in creating art.

Wanting to deepen my skills and immerse myself in a more serious artistic environment, I applied to and was accepted into the CSSSA (California State Summer School for the Arts) program at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) during the summer after 10th grade.

For four weeks, I lived on campus and experienced a preview of college life, surrounded by students who shared the same passion for art.

I took intensive art classes taught by professors and teaching assistants, receiving personalized feedback and being encouraged to step outside my creative comfort zone. This experience allowed me to experiment with new techniques and mediums, expand my artistic perspective, and better understand the discipline and thought that go into making meaningful art.Beyond the classroom, living away from home for the first time helped me grow more independent and responsible.

I learned to manage my own schedule, collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds, and stay grounded in a completely new environment.

Most importantly, I returned from the program more inspired than ever, with a stronger commitment to pursuing art not just as a hobby, but as a meaningful part of my future.

Life guard

Having grown up with a strong passion for swimming and diving, I was always confident in the water.

This confidence led me to pursue a Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross, which I successfully earned.

Following this achievement, I worked as a certified lifeguard at the Rancho Bernardo Swim and Tennis Center during the summer after 10th grade.
This was a paid position, and over the summer I earned a total of $1,014, marking my first professional work experience and giving me a strong sense of responsibility and situational awareness.

Ensuring the safety of children and families in and around the pool taught me how to stay calm under pressure and remain attentive at all times.

Beyond being a summer job, this experience helped me grow into someone who values community, safety, and leadership through action.

T-shirt Design

During middle school, I was part of the God’s Image San Diego dance team, where I had the opportunity to design the team T-shirt.

Later, as a member and flute section leader of the flute section in the Rancho Bernardo High School marching band, I also designed the T-shirt for our flute team.

Both experiences allowed me to express my passion for design and take pride in visually representing the spirit and identity of the teams I belonged to.

In 2025, our school marching band held a contest to select the official band T-shirt design, and my Andy Warhol–inspired artwork was chosen.

Since the 2025 marching band theme is “Andy Warhol,” I felt proud that my design could capture the essence of the theme and represent our entire band.

Helen woodward Animal Center

In 9th grade, I volunteered at the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego.

I participated in the Small Animal Kids Camp, where I helped take care of young children and guided them as they interacted with small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs.

It was a truly enjoyable and meaningful experience—seeing the joy on the kids’ faces as they connected with the animals was incredibly rewarding.

Through this opportunity, I not only supported the campers but also deepened my own understanding of empathy, responsibility, and the importance of kindness toward all living beings.

Gods image Dance Team
     (Middle School)

During middle school, I was part of God’s Image Dance Team, where I found pure joy in expressing myself through art and dance.

In the early days, we had to rehearse and perform over Zoom due to COVID, which was challenging — but once we were able to gather in person with masks and perform on stage, it was an unforgettable experience.

Being on stage allowed me to release all my built-up energy and truly enjoy the thrill of dancing in front of an audience. At that time, art and dance were my biggest passions and sources of happiness.

These creative outlets helped shape my confidence and deepened my love for expressive, artistic activities.
